House of Wander
“Not all who wander are lost.”
-J.R.R. Tolkien
The House of Wander explores the nature of play in the context of a home.
The project is predicated on the idea that play is not frivolous, rather there are places that have structure and places that don't; both of which provide useful moments for discovery. The rules of play manifest in structured architectural program: bedrooms, bathroom, entry, etc. The "left-over" spaces become opportunities to improvise, play hide & seek, explore caves, climb a beanstalk, stargaze; places to discover new worlds.
